October 20, 2008 - SCT will present Steel Magnolias
Salina Community Theatre will produce Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling as its subscription offering in April, 2009.  This warm and tender comedy looks at the relationships of six southern women who gather at Truvy's Hair Salon to share gossip, their humor and their sadness.  Steel Magnolias was also made into a successful movie starring Julia Roberts and Sally Fields.
Executive Director Michael Spicer stated, "We are very excited to offer this rich and heartwarming comedy to our audiences.  We are also pleased to be doing a show that will give six of our feistiest actresses a chance to all get on stage together.  A really courageous director is still being sought.  The continued success of Steel Magnolias at theatres across the country is a testament to the quality of Mr. Harlings work.  We feel that this production will have great resonance with our audiences, too."
